Sharon,” it said, “why have you stopped moving? You’re going to be late. We can’t have that. You must hurry.

Yes,” said her father’s voice. “Stop dawdling along. Hurry, hurry!”

Sharon started to look around for her parents, then she realized she was hearing the voices in her head, not with her ears. When the voices stopped the necklace stopped flashing. The stone was blue again.

“Well,” she said, as she re-packed her bag and untied the monkey from the tree, “I guess we need to move faster.”
