After lunch Mother found an old shoe box. She lined it and the inside of the lid with black construction paper.

While the glue was drying she sent the children to find a working flashlight. Once the glue was dry she cut a hole just the size of the top of the flashlight into one of the box’s sides.

She got a small, clear, glass dish; filled it with water; and put it in the box. Then she put a small peep-hole in the lid and put the lid on the box.

When she placed the top of the flashlight into the hole in the side of the box and turned it on, she asked Mary to look inside the box through the hole in the top.
