The next day at the sheriff’s house
The men flocked in by droves,
And after all was said and done
A leader then they chose.

Off to yonder woods they rode,
All forty brave and true,
To find the outlaw Robin Hood
Would be a task, they knew.

They rode all day through wooded groves
And never seemed to meet
The Robin Hood who always seemed
Right under others feet.
